Review:
I have received this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.
Devil in Disguise is a book about a serious topic with an important message. Although there is some romance in the book, the main focus in on human trafficking.
Rachel Cooper is a well-known reported, who is trying to get involved in her sister’s life, even though her relationship with her family isn’t the best.
When Julie, Rachel’s sister goes missing, Rachel turns to her ex-boyfriend Conrad for help and support. Along the way, some of Conrad’s secrets are reveled as they learn more about the world of Human Trafficking.
Rachel is a wonderful main character. She’s strong, determined and caring. I really enjoyed the fact she was serious about her job and about raising awareness about important issues like human trafficking. And when her sister goes missing it becomes clear that Rachel will do anything to save her.
The secondary characters were great as well and all of them brought something to the story.
When it comes to the topic of human trafficking Heather Huffman is able to create awareness about it without exploring the theme in a way that puts the reader off. Instead, as I read the book I found myself gaining important information about the issue.
All in all, Devil in Disguise is an emotional and interesting story about an important issue. The story is full of romance, suspense and action.
If you like a good contemporary romance that focuses on an important topic, I’m sure you’ll be able to enjoy this book.
