Review - Better Than Chocolate by Sheila Roberts

Title and Author: Better Than Chocolate by Sheila Roberts
Publisher: Harlequin MIRA
Publication Date: September 25th, 2012
Paperback/Hardcover: 400
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Summary:
Sweet Dreams Chocolate Company has been in the Sterling family for generations, ever since Great-Grandma Rose literally dreamed up her first fabulous recipe. But now it looks as if they're about to lose Sweet Dreams to the bank—and that would be a disaster, not only for the family but for the town of Icicle Falls, Washington. Can Samantha, the oldest daughter and new head of the company, come up with a way to save it?After Samantha does some brainstorming with her mother and sisters, inspiration strikes. They'll have a chocolate festival! Time's running out, but the Sterling women are determined and the town's behind them, so everything's bound to go smoothly.
Or not. Events seem to be conspiring against Samantha, and her mother's attempts to help aren't helping. To make matters worse, the fate of her company is in the hands of her archenemy, Blake Preston, the bank manager with the football-hero good looks. It's enough to drive her to chocolate. But Blake's also enough to convince her that (believe it or not) there's something even better than chocolate.

Review:
I have received this book from the author in exchange of an honest review and Better Than Chocolate turned out to be a very enjoyable read.
Samantha is the head of Sweet Dreams – a chocolate factory that has been in her family for several years. Unfortunately, it seems like Samantha might lose the factory to the bank so she needs to come up with a way to save it. A chocolate festival seems to be the perfect way to save the factory but, unfortunately, nothing seems to work out the way Samantha wants it to!
I really liked the characters in this book. They are all funny and easy to like and I especially enjoyed reading about all of them, especially Samantha, Blake, Bailey and Cecily.
Blake is a really good character and equally good guy and I couldn’t help but to like him even though Samantha wanted to blame him for everything that was happening to her. Samantha was determined and fun to read about.
While romance is not the main theme of the book, there are still several relationships blossoming in Icicle Falls and the sexual tension between Samantha and Blake was really well-written.
The story revolves mainly around Samantha’s awkward attempts to save Sweet Dreams and I have to say her attempts were both fun to read and a little exasperating because I really wanted her to succeed. Sweet Dreams seems like such a great place, I wanted it to exist for real.
All in all, Better Than Chocolate is a great book with an interesting story. I really enjoyed reading about all the chocolate confections, the characters and the festival Samantha organized.
The book is well-written and easy to read. The characters are very interesting and it’s easy to like them and want things to work out for them. Plus, I really like this new cover. Isn't ir pretty?
If you like a good, fun chick-lit book, you should definitely give this book a try!
