DestinyDestiny (Destiny Trilogy #1)
By Cindy Ray Hale
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age category: Young Adult
Release Date: November 5, 2013
Blurb:
Destiny Clark, a young Mormon girl living in Tennessee, is wildly infatuated with Isaac Robinson, the headmaster's son at her Baptist high school. When they're cast together in the school's production of Les Misérables, Destiny is horrified to find that she has to be publicly humiliated by acting out her true feelings of rejection onstage.
As their rehearsals begin, Destiny realizes the unimaginable: Isaac has developed deep feelings for her despite their religious differences and the fact that he has a girlfriend.
But will they be able to find their place amongst the backbiters of their ultra-conservative world?
Weaving around Destiny and Isaac's alternating viewpoints, Destiny is the first book in a series inspired by the characters of Les Misérables and explores heartbreak, self-discovery, intolerance, and love.

1 - Have you always wanted to be a writer?
When I was really little I wanted to be a writer, but somehow as I got older I kind of forgot about it. Two years ago my love for writing was rekindled, and just over a year ago I began writing full-time.

2 - What inspired you to write Destiny?
Two years ago my sister called me and asked if I wanted to co-author a middle grade historical fiction with her. I jumped at the chance, but when my sister became sick and pregnant our writing screeched to a stop. By then I was itching to write something of my own. I always heard that you should write what you know and that you should write a unique story. The most unique thing I could think of was my background as a young Mormon girl growing up in Tennessee and attending a Baptist school.

3 - What do you think makes a great book heroine?
Growth. That's the main thing I want to see in a book heroine. I want to watch her change into a stronger person. Beyond that, I like loyalty, courage, and determination.

4 - Which are a few of your favorite characters?
Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice and Katniss Everdeen from the Hunger Games

5 - Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
Keep writing. If you want to write a book don't call yourself an aspiring writer first of all. As soon as you write the first sentence you ARE a writer. If you've written a blog post you're a writer. So much of success is attitude. If you believe in yourself, others will believe in you too. It's contagious.
